From The Eyes of My 9th Grade Self

Happy Tuesday everyone! I don't write a lot of personal posts- but this is one I've been wanting to write for a long time.

I started my blog six years ago- can you believe that? I began as a freshman in high school, time has really flown by since then. It's crazy to me what a huge part of my life all of you have become. I've documented myself from a 14-year-old high school freshman with braces, to an adult in college. My blog has been something that has made me incredibly happy and experience things I never thought I would. I couldn't be more grateful to all of you who have supported me, and bring me joy everyday of my life. Blogging has become second nature to me, and there are so many things I love about it. In today's society though, I think it is so important that everyone realizes most people only share the good happening in their lives.

Blogging can get discouraging sometimes, and its really hard to not compare yourself to others. Being a full-time student in addition to blogging can get difficult. It's hard to constantly have creative content. I spend the majority of my time in class, at the gym, and in the library at school- which doesn't make for the most entertaining Instagram feed. There's times when I'm looking at full-time blogger feeds, and start to feel like I'm not doing enough. Lately I have been looking at things from the perspective of my 9th-grade self. I started my blog during my freshman year of high school in 2013. At that point I just used my blog and Instagram as a creative outlet to share my interests with those who had similar. I would've never dreamed of continuing my blog for all of these years! If 14-year-old Abby saw what I was doing now, she would freak out! In the past six years I've been lucky enough to have met incredible people and have had experiences I never thought would've happened. I love the quote "remember when you wanted what you currently have". I'm so thankful for my life today, and couldn't do this without you guys! Life isn't about likes, and followers. It's about connecting with people and being yourself.  I think we all need this reminder sometimes. This year for me has been one of the hardest in my life, going through a break-up and dealing with some health issues with one of my family members. I can't thank you all enough for your continued support throughout the years- it means the world to me.

Thanks for reading, love you guys!

  1. I love it! You go girl! I feel the same way. I spend almost all of my time in class, studying, or in my research lab. I also feel like those things are not necessarily Social media worthy, but it’s who I am. If my high school freshman self could see me now, I would hardly believe it.
