Rope neckalce tutorial

The very requested nautical rope necklace tutorial is here! I tried my best to make it as easy as possible. If your having trouble I found this really great post here on how to make one.

Rope- can be found at local craft stores the white necklace i made the rope is from Hobby Lobby, I would recommend this rope. It's cheaper and easier to work with. I could not find an online link to the rope, but at the store it is with the ribbon. The rope in the tutorial is from Joann Fabrics.

Jump Rings, Ribbon ends, jewelry pliers and clasp: All can be found at a local craft store. I purchased mine at Joann Fabrics.

Measuring tape.

Also scotch tape
1. Cut 4 pieces of rope the same length. Mine were 25 inches long. Make your measurements as long, or as short as you want and this will lengthen or shorten the necklace.

I would recommend putting a piece of tape around the ends to prevent fraying.

2. Follow photos to see how to tie a nautical knot. ( Here if your having trouble following, go here for some more help)

Create two loops using 2 pieces of rope for each loop.

Place the left loop on top of the right loop.

Now, it gets hard to explain. Try looking carefully at the pictures if my explanation is confusing. :)
Take the rope from the bottom loop. Put it under the top left rope.

Then, put it over the top of the loop, and under the following rope. Then above the outer rope edge.

That's it! Now pull tight and your knot is created!

3. Adding the clasp
Ok, so the way I added the clasp may not look extremely pretty, but it is very easy and holds great.
Cut ends to same length.

Tape the ends of the rope together on both sides. (Yes, I'm aware this isn't very pretty, but it works great!)

Add ribbon ends to both sides using jewelry pliers.

Add jump rings and clasp using jewelry pliers, Attach together.

TA DA! Here's what the necklace looks like :)

Hope this was a good tutorial and helped you make a rope necklace! Let me know if you made one ,I'd love to see and also what you thought of this tutorial.
Thanks for reading!
